Hi. I’m so glad you are here.

I’m Emily, a licensed clinical social worker and therapist who is also a mom, partner, daughter, sister, and friend. I have been a social worker for over 20 years. As a therapist, I seek to create authentic connections based on mutual trust, respect, and curiosity. I ask questions and I listen deeply. I offer patience, acceptance, and a safe and confidential space to process your most personal thoughts and experiences.

I work collaboratively with clients and know that the therapeutic relationship is a space for healing and growth. My clients find that I am active, engaged, and laugh easily. I work from a relational, trauma- informed, strengths-based, and person-in-environment lens. I also utilize Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, mindfulness, motivational interviewing, and a variety of modalities, as I work alongside clients to meet their unique goals and work toward self- discovery and self-acceptance. I am also a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional.

Since young adulthood, walking has been at the center of my relationships and self-care practice. Walking alongside someone I care about is when I feel most connected to myself and connected to others. Walking in nature is where I have made big decisions, processed complicated feelings, and made discoveries. I look forward to sharing this healing practice with you.

I graduated from Vanderbilt University with a Bachelors of Science in Psychology. After serving for a year as an AmeriCorps VISTA, I completed a Masters in Social Work from the Brown School at Washington University in St. Louis. In addition to working in Austin, I have practiced social work in North Carolina, Florida, and Washington, DC. I have had the privilege of working in a variety of settings including VA Medical Centers, shelter and day centers for individuals experiencing homelessness, community mental health, and public defense. Each one of these experiences have had profound impacts on my worldview. I have seen time and time again the amazing strength, resilience, and potential in humans. I know that people grow and heal in relationship with others.

When not working, I love spending time with my husband and three young kids. I also enjoy reading, attending pilates classes, and volunteering. Currently, I am a volunteer investigator on a small research study in partnership with UT School of Nursing, looking at the impact of storytelling through music for social workers working in the homelessness response system in Austin.
